Between May 1 and June 7, 2026, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) reported a significant cholera outbreak in Borno State, Nigeria, with 7,850 suspected cases and 74 fatalities across 14 local government areas and 50 wards. The organization has been actively treating an average of 230 patients daily at its treatment centers located in Maiduguri. The rapid spread of the disease highlights the urgent need for effective public health interventions in the region to address the ongoing crisis.
