The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has reported that over 1.5 million students enrolled in 288 tertiary institutions have received financial assistance through its loan scheme, amounting to more than ₦282 billion disbursed nationwide. This information was shared by Mr. Awati Muhammed, who serves as the Head of Loan Repayment and Reconciliation at NELFUND, during a Democracy Day engagement attended by student union leaders from Northern Nigeria. The initiative aims to support students in their educational pursuits and alleviate financial barriers to higher education.
