The International Labour Organisation (ILO) has officially adopted a new international labour standard aimed at protecting workers engaged in the gig economy, specifically those operating through digital platforms such as Uber and Bolt. This significant development occurred during the closing session of the 114th International Labour Conference (ILC) held in Geneva, Switzerland, where the "Decent Work in the Platform Economy Convention, 2026" was ratified. The convention, which came into force on Friday, establishes guidelines intended to ensure fair working conditions and rights for platform workers globally.
