The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has conveyed its condolences regarding the death of former spokesman Major General Rabe Abubakar (Retired), who reportedly died while in the custody of terrorists after being abducted. Major General Abubakar and his wife were kidnapped on May 30, 2026, in Katsina State, and a video of him was recently released by his captors. In light of this tragedy, the DHQ has reiterated its commitment to combating terrorism and ensuring the safety of all citizens. The military leadership emphasized the need for continued efforts to eradicate the threat posed by terrorist groups in the region.
