Ryad Mezzour, Morocco's minister of trade, emphasized the significance of the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline project during a recent panel at the Eli Morocco Forum in Tangier. He stated that the pipeline is expected to enhance economic development across both Europe and Africa, serving as a model for continental integration. Mezzour highlighted the project's role in providing energy access, supporting food security, and facilitating the production of fertilizers, while also noting the necessity for collaboration between governments and investors. Furthermore, he mentioned that an intergovernmental agreement on the $25 billion pipeline is anticipated to be signed this year, with plans for a joint venture to oversee its execution and financing.
