The International Labour Organization (ILO) has highlighted the urgent need for action against child labour, with approximately 138 million children worldwide currently affected, including 54 million involved in hazardous work that endangers their health and development. Gilbert F. Houngbo, the ILO Director-General, emphasized the gravity of the situation in a video message, urging for a renewed global commitment to combat this issue. He described the current state of child labour as unacceptable and called for accelerated efforts to protect vulnerable children from exploitation.
