Kwara monarch dies in kidnappers’ captivity

Oba Salman Olatunji Aweda, the traditional ruler of the Olayinka community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, has reportedly died while in captivity of his kidnappers. The abductors had demanded a ransom of ₦21 million, two new motorcycles, and a jerrycan of petrol for his release. His death occurred three days after another individual was similarly abducted in the region, raising concerns about the ongoing security challenges faced by communities in Kwara State. Authorities are yet to confirm the circumstances surrounding his death and the status of the investigation into the kidnapping.
