The National Industrial Court in Abuja has ruled in favor of the National Association of Non-Teaching Staff of Nigerian Universities (NANTS), mandating the Federal Government to officially register the organization as a trade union. This decision concludes a protracted legal dispute regarding the recognition of NANTS as a legitimate labor body. Justice Osatohanmwen Obaseki-Osaghae issued the ruling in case number NICN/ABJ/345/2023, emphasizing the need for formal acknowledgment of the union's status. The court's directive is expected to facilitate the union's operations and advocacy for the rights of non-teaching staff in Nigerian universities.
