The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has published a new Consumer Price Index (CPI) report identifying Yobe, Anambra, Sokoto, and Abia as among the most expensive states to reside in Nigeria. The report indicates that the country's headline inflation rate increased to 15.93% in May 2026, a rise from 15.69% recorded in April. This upward trend in inflation reflects the growing cost of living in these states, impacting the economic conditions for residents. The findings underscore the challenges faced by consumers in managing their expenses amid rising prices.
