The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially dismissed recent reports suggesting the introduction of new taxes on telecommunications services and fuel products. This clarification comes in response to statements from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which indicated that Nigeria might consider extending Value Added Tax (VAT) to fuel and implementing excise duties on telecom services to enhance revenue for development and social spending. The government emphasized that no such tax measures are currently being planned or implemented.
