Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, the vice-president of Equatorial Guinea, has announced the resignation of the federal executive council due to its failure to meet established performance targets. In a statement shared on social media, Mangue indicated that the cabinet achieved only "barely 10 percent" of its goals, emphasizing the need for public responsibility to yield tangible results. He highlighted the significant resources allocated by the state to address the population's needs, noting that the level of execution fell short of expectations. The outgoing government, appointed in 2024 and led by Prime Minister Manuel Osa Nsue Nsua, faced criticism for its inability to implement effective economic reforms amid a prolonged economic slowdown, primarily driven by declining oil production and external challenges. A new government is anticipated to be appointed following this resignation.
