The United Nations and the European Union, alongside federal and state governments, have emphasized the need for sustainable solutions for the 3.5 million internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Northern Nigeria. During the First Project Steering Committee meeting for the EU Support for Internally Displaced Persons, stakeholders highlighted that the ongoing reliance on humanitarian aid is not a viable long-term strategy. They urged for collaborative efforts to address the root causes of displacement and to implement effective recovery programs that can support the reintegration of IDPs into their communities.
