A Federal High Court in Katsina State has imposed a death sentence by hanging on Hauwa’u Mukhtar after she was convicted of conspiracy to commit terrorism and aiding terrorist activities. The court proceedings revealed that Mukhtar was apprehended by the Department of State Services (DSS) on September 16, 2023, at Jibia Motor Park while allegedly in possession of 438 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition intended for a suspected bandit leader in Zamfara State. The court determined that the prosecution had established its case beyond reasonable doubt, supported by evidence and witness testimonies, resulting in her conviction on two counts under the Katsina State Penal Code Law, 2021. This ruling is part of a series of recent terrorism-related convictions by the DSS, which includes another death sentence issued in June and a 20-year prison term for a different female arms courier earlier this year.
