Nigeria's current account surplus experienced a significant increase of 255.71 percent, reaching $4.98 billion in the first quarter of 2026, compared to $1.40 billion recorded in the previous quarter. This data was disclosed in the provisional balance of payments statistics published by the Central Bank of Nigeria. Additionally, the surplus marked a 46.04 percent rise from the same period in the previous year, indicating a robust improvement in the country's external financial position.
