Following a protracted succession dispute at the University of Uyo, Prof. Chris Nyong Ekong has been appointed as the 9th substantive vice chancellor of the institution. Ekong, a distinguished professor of Economics and an alumnus of UNIUYO, succeeds Prof. Samuel Adewumi, who served as the acting vice chancellor and is affiliated with Lagos State University. In his inaugural address, Governor Eno advised the new vice chancellor against investigating the actions of his predecessor, emphasizing the need for a focus on future developments within the university.
