Femi Fani-Kayode, Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to South Africa, has publicly defended former Zamfara State governor Abdullaziz Yari against allegations of gold smuggling. This defense comes in response to videos circulating on social media that claim Yari is linked to the recent interception of 22.2 kilograms of gold valued at N4.4 billion by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport. Fani-Kayode condemned the allegations as falsehoods and criticized those responsible for spreading the claims, asserting that they are attempting to tarnish Yari's reputation. He emphasized that such malicious actions are futile and urged the detractors to reflect on their conduct.
