On the occasion of World Refugee Day, the European Commission and the High Representative highlighted the resilience of over 117 million displaced individuals worldwide, who have been uprooted by conflict, persecution, and violence. The European Union, recognized as the leading humanitarian donor, emphasizes its commitment to supporting refugees, asylum seekers, and host communities through the provision of essential services and the promotion of international protection standards. The EU has also played a significant role in addressing the humanitarian crises in various regions, including providing temporary protection to over 4.8 million people fleeing the conflict in Ukraine. Furthermore, the newly adopted Joint Communication on Humanitarian Action aims to strengthen resilience and promote sustainable development while addressing the root causes of displacement, reinforcing the EU's dedication to creating safe and dignified solutions for refugees globally.
