The ongoing Ebola outbreak in Uganda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo has resulted in 894 confirmed cases and 204 fatalities, with 74 individuals reported to have recovered since the outbreak was declared on May 15, 2026. Dr. Wessam Mankoula, who serves as the Acting Head of the Emergency Preparedness and Response Division at the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, is overseeing the response efforts. Health authorities are actively working to contain the spread of the virus and provide care to affected individuals. The situation remains critical as efforts continue to monitor and manage the outbreak.
