The governorship election in Ekiti State is set to feature a competitive contest between candidates Biodun Oyebanji and Segun Oluyede, representing two of the 13 political parties vying for the position. The European Union monitors have issued warnings regarding potential vote-buying and violence during the electoral process. The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has publicly denied any claims of withdrawing from the race. In preparation for the elections, the police have deployed personnel and tactical assets to ensure a secure environment, while bye-elections are also scheduled to take place in six other states.
