Troops from Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force North West, engaged in Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully rescued 22 individuals who had been kidnapped and prevented additional abductions in Sokoto State's Sabon Birni and Isa Local Government Areas. The operations, which took place on June 18, were initiated following intelligence reports and distress calls from local communities. In the first incident, terrorists ambushed two civilian vehicles on the Sabon Birni–Shinkafi Road, resulting in one civilian fatality before troops intervened, leading to the rescue of 17 kidnapped passengers. In a separate operation at Chohi Village, troops thwarted an attempted abduction of farmers, successfully rescuing five individuals and reuniting them with their families. The military has since conducted patrols in surrounding areas to enhance security and reassure residents.
