The Lagos State Police Command has ruled out any possibility of a bomb or terrorist attack in the explosion that occurred in the Mushin area of Lagos on Monday, describing the incident instead as a mechanical explosion. Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai stated that thorough investigations by security operatives found no evidence of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) or any form of explosive attack. Forensic examinations at the scene revealed no traces of explosive substances, detonators, initiation mechanisms, or residues typically associated with bombs. According to the police, preliminary findings pointed to the sudden release of pressure from a mechanical component outside the affected vehicle. The pressure caused the front passenger-side glass panels to shatter, resulting in minor injuries to the occupant. The command has officially classified the event as a mechanical explosion and assured residents that there is no indication of terrorism or any coordinated attack. Authorities urged the public to remain calm and refrain from spreading unverified information that could trigger unnecessary panic. This clarification comes amid initial speculations linking the blast to possible security threats.
