President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed former House of Representatives member Abdulrazak Sa’ad Namdas as the new Director General of the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA). According to a statement by Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga on Friday, Namdas replaces Dr. Dakorinama Alabo George, a loyalist of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike. George resigned from the position to contest the 2027 Rivers State governorship election. He ultimately lost the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to Kingsley Ogundu Chinda, a former Minority Leader in the 10th National Assembly. Namdas, who represented the Ganye/Jada/Mayo Belwa/Toungo federal constituency in Adamawa State during the 9th Assembly, is noted for stepping down from his speakership ambition in favor of Femi Gbajabiamila, who is now President Tinubu’s Chief of Staff. In related appointments, President Tinubu named Patrick Obahiagbon, a former Edo State lawmaker known for his distinctive oratory and vocabulary as Executive Director of Strategy and Commercial at the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC). He replaces Ogbeide-Ihama. The President also reappointed Mr. Chukwuma Umeoji as Executive Director of Corporate Services at the NDPHC. These changes reflect ongoing efforts to strengthen leadership in agencies focused on border community development and power sector operations.
