The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 147 suspected criminals during a coordinated crackdown on criminal hideouts in the Super Ile-Epo axis and other identified black spots as part of its ongoing Operation KO S’AYE III. The early morning operation, carried out at about 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, followed credible intelligence and persistent complaints from residents who alleged that hoodlums had been terrorising motorists, commuters and pedestrians, particularly at night. Police spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, who briefed journalists in Lagos on Monday, said operatives drawn from various formations of the command simultaneously raided the hideouts at Boolar, Super Ile-Epo and other locations to flush out criminal elements and restore public confidence. She disclosed that 147 suspects were arrested during the operation, while a cache of weapons and other items linked to criminal activities was recovered. According to Adebisi, the operation forms part of the Command’s sustained strategy to dismantle criminal enclaves and deny hoodlums safe havens across Lagos State. She said all the suspects remain in police custody and are being screened to determine their individual involvement in criminal activities, adding that those found culpable would be prosecuted in accordance with the law. Commending the operatives for the successful operation, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, praised their professionalism and reaffirmed commitment to sustaining Operation KO S’AYE III across the state. He urged residents to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information on suspicious activities and criminal hideouts, stressing that community cooperation remains vital to improving security and protecting lives and property in Lagos.
