The Zamfara State Internal Revenue Service (ZIRS) and the Ministry of Commerce, Tourism and Industries have agreed to strengthen collaboration to improve internally generated revenue (IGR), attract investments and promote economic growth. The commitment was made when the Executive Chairman of ZIRS, Rakiya Ahmad Dodo, led the agency’s management on a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Commerce, Tourism and Industries, Tasi’u Musa Shinkafi, in Gusau. The delegation included the Executive Director, Revenue Operations, Ibrahim AbdulNasir, and other senior officials. During the meeting, both agencies discussed strategies for expanding the state’s revenue base, promoting trade and investment and creating a more conducive environment for businesses. She commended the ministry’s efforts in promoting commerce and industrial development and reaffirmed the readiness of ZIRS to work closely with it to strengthen the state’s economy. Shinkafi welcomed the initiative, saying stronger cooperation between the ministry and ZIRS would improve investment promotion, enhance revenue generation and support the implementation of policies aimed at expanding economic opportunities. Both parties pledged to work together in line with Governor Dauda Lawal’s economic development agenda to attract more investment, strengthen internally generated revenue and promote sustainable development.
