The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has announced the upload of the name of its presidential candidate, 365 National Assembly candidates and placeholders on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal. The party also said the process for the governorship and State House of Assembly candidates was already in progress. The party said the exercise was being carried out in line with electoral guidelines and would continue until August 8, 2026, when the process is expected to end and pave the way for substitutions and replacements. Addressing newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja, NNPP National Chairman, Agbo Major, said the party had also secured the restoration of its original logo on the INEC portal following a legal dispute over the party’s leadership. “I can confidently tell Nigerians that our original logo has been restored. The logo that generated controversy has been completely removed and anyone can verify this on the INEC portal,” Major said. The chairman said the development had resolved concerns surrounding the identity and legitimacy of the party, urging members and supporters nationwide to remain united and intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of future elections. Speaking specifically on the 2027 elections, the party Chairman disclosed that they had successfully uploaded 365 National Assembly candidates, including placeholders, across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. According to him, the use of placeholders in some constituencies became necessary pending the emergence of substantive candidates “with the capacity and commitment to contest under the NNPP platform.” He further said “Despite the time constraints due to the late recognition of the legitimate National Working Committee under my leadership, our Situation Room was able to upload a total of 355 National Assembly candidates, including placeholders. “We have equally completed the upload of our presidential flag bearer, also a placeholder, in accordance with the provisions guiding the operations of political parties in Nigeria. This is not only commendable but historic.” The chairman, however, declined to name the identity of its placeholder candidates Agbo also noted that the upload of governorship and State House of Assembly candidates had commenced and would be completed before the August 8 deadline set by the party for the exercise. He said the achievements “are not merely administrative exercises. They represent the strengthening of our structures and scope, the consolidation of our membership base and our readiness to provide purposeful leadership for Nigeria. “As preparations heighten towards the 2027 general elections, we call on all patriotic Nigerians, particularly our youths, women, professionals, workers and those in the diaspora, to join the NNPP in the collective mission of building a new Nigeria,” he said.
