The Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria has called on the Federal Government to invest more in school security infrastructure to protect pupils, students and teachers from the growing threat of kidnapping and attacks on educational institutions across the country. In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Dr Sola Hassan, the Society said the release of the kidnapped Oyo children and their teachers was a source of joy for the nation. The Society commended the Nigerian Armed Forces, security and intelligence agencies, as well as other personnel involved in securing the release of the victims, praising their professionalism, courage, resilience and commitment to protecting the lives of Nigerians. Ansar-Ud-Deen expressed concern over the recurring incidents of kidnapping and attacks on schools, stressing that educational institutions must remain safe centres for learning rather than places of fear and insecurity. The Society urged the federal and state governments and security agencies to strengthen intelligence gathering, improve school protection and ensure that perpetrators of such crimes are arrested and prosecuted. “It is imperative that comprehensive measures be put in place to prevent future occurrences and restore public confidence in the safety of our educational system,” it said. The Islamic organisation further appealed to governments at all levels to invest more in school security infrastructure, community policing initiatives and early warning mechanisms, particularly in vulnerable communities.
