The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has officially dismissed media reports alleging that he is lobbying to be appointed Director-General (DG) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC). In a statement issued Monday in Abuja by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, the Minister described the claims as entirely false and a fabrication. Recent reports in various media outlets had positioned Wike among the top political figures actively seeking or being considered for the campaign leadership role ahead of the upcoming election cycle. Addressing the speculation, Wike clarified that the matter of campaign leadership had never been a subject of conversation for him. “I did not, at any time, discuss leadership or even membership of the PCC with anyone,” the Minister stated. Despite distancing himself from the campaign DG post, Wike reiterated his “unflinching support” for President Bola Tinubu’s reelection bid. He maintained that he does not require a formal title within the APC’s campaign structure to deliver results for the President. “I do not need to be the DG or even a member of the Presidential Campaign Council of Mr. President’s political party to contribute my quota,” Wike asserted. “I will ensure that Tinubu wins with wide margins in Rivers State and the FCT.” The Minister emphasized that his immediate focus remains the delivery of the President’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” through infrastructure development and governance in the FCT.
