A Federal High Court in Kano has fixed September 21 for mention in a suit asking it to disqualify President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from the 2027 elections over allegation of certificate forgery. Daily Trust reported that a group known as Centre for Reform and Public Advocacy (CFRPA) had approached the court seeking for an order barring Tinubu from the contest. The plaintiff alleged that Tinubu presented forged academic certificates from Chicago State University and a fake National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the 2023 elections. Parties in the suit, marked FHC/K/CS/312/2026, have filed their processes ahead of the scheduled date, Daily Trust can report. President Tinubu, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and Chicago State University were joined as defendants in the suit.
