The Adamawa State Post-Primary Schools Management Board (PPSMB) has urged teachers to improve their efficiency and professionalism in support of the state government’s data-driven education reform programme. The Acting Executive Secretary of the board, Birsan Penuel, gave the charge yesterday in Yola during a sensitisation and training programme on updating school records and teachers’ data across secondary schools in the state. Penuel urged participants to take the training seriously, saying accurate data would enable the government to better plan and prioritise interventions in the education sector. He also urged principals and participants to cascade the training to other teachers and ensure accurate records of teaching and non-teaching staff. The acting executive secretary commended Governor Ahmadu Fintiri for his support for the education sector, saying the board was committed to complementing the administration’s efforts to make Adamawa a zero-tolerance state for out-of-school children. Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Adamawa State chapter, Faisal Muhammed Abubakar, commended the governor for his commitment to improving education in the state. He also commended the Director of Satlink, Sanusi Idris Medugu, describing the initiative as timely. Abubakar said the PPSMB had been requesting data on teaching and non-teaching staff annually, adding that the digital process would help address challenges associated with data collection and management. Also speaking, Medugu urged participants to pay attention during the training to ensure its objectives were achieved. He said the programme was designed to equip participants with the skills needed to digitally enrol themselves and capture accurate data on their staff.
