The Imole Campaign Council has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, over recent comments attributed to Senator Francis Fadahunsi ahead of the August 15 Osun State governorship election. In the petition dated August 12, 2026, the council drew the police’s attention to what it described as an “extremely disturbing video recording” allegedly showing the Osun East senator making comments calling for violence against members and supporters of the Accord Party. The petition quoted Fadahunsi as allegedly saying, “From now on, whenever you see Accord members, kill them. I authorise you to kill them.” It also alleged that he said voters would not be allowed to cast their ballots even if they presented their voter cards. The council described the alleged remarks as “extremely grave,” arguing that they could constitute a threat to lives, public peace and the security of the state. It urged the police to investigate and authenticate the video, invite Fadahunsi for questioning and determine whether any individuals or groups had acted on the alleged comments. The campaign council also called for adequate security at polling units and collation centres, stressing that “No Nigerian should have to fear being attacked or killed because of the political party he or she supports.” It further urged the police to take preventive measures before the alleged threat could materialise, particularly with the governorship election approaching. The petition also requested that security be provided for members and supporters of political parties across affected areas, while urging the police to ensure that voters can participate in the election without intimidation, harassment or violence. The council said the petition was not intended to prejudge Fadahunsi, but to ensure that the allegations were properly investigated. It stated that “Political office must never become immunity from investigation.” The petition was signed by Pelumi Olanjegbesi, Esq., on behalf of the campaign council.
