Nigerian Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has celebrated the victory of his uncle, Ademola Adeleke, in the Osun State governorship election. Davido, who is a prominent member of the Adeleke family, took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to celebrate the electoral victory shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the incumbent governor the winner of the poll. The singer had also publicly supported his uncle throughout the voting process and the subsequent collation of results, using his social media platforms to express his support as the electoral process unfolded. In a post accompanying a video of himself celebrating the result, Davido wrote: “WE DID IT UNC !!! @aadeleke_01.” The video showed Davido visibly overwhelmed with emotion as he reacted to his uncle’s victory, with the singer appearing to break down as the significance of the result sank in. His reaction came shortly after INEC formally declared Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party the winner of the Osun State governorship election held on Saturday. Adeleke secured a total of 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes. The result gave Adeleke another term as governor of Osun State following a keenly contested election.
