Fintiri’s Senatorship Is for the Youth

Adamawa’s youth have never had it this good. The administration of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has demonstrated, through concrete policies and programmes, that it is a government for the youth. 1. Youth Employment: Over 4,000 civil servants have been employed, with a significant number being young people. 2. Scholarships and Educational Support: The administration has sustained international and local scholarship programmes, with over ₦800 million invested in recent years, supporting more than 85,000 students. 3. Free WAEC and NECO Registration: The government provides free WAEC and NECO registration for eligible Adamawa students, reducing the financial burden on families. 4. AGILE Partnership: Through the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE), the state supports approximately 24,000 schoolgirls through conditional cash transfers, including an initial payment of about ₦40,000, with further support linked to school attendance and other conditions. 5. Youth-Focused Agriculture and Food Security: The 300-hectare-per-LGA Food Security/Cluster Farming Programme provides land, free agricultural inputs, including seeds, fertilisers and herbicides, and extension services, with young people among the key beneficiaries. 6. PAWECA Grants: The Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA) provides ₦50,000 grants to small-scale entrepreneurs, petty traders, artisans, nano and MSMEs, women and young people. 7. Skills Acquisition: The government has revitalized the 10 skills acquisition centres across the state while expanding skills-development opportunities, particularly in information technology and other emerging fields. 8. Youth Participation in Governance: Young people have been given opportunities to serve in government through appointments as Special Advisers (SAs) and Senior Special Assistants (SSAs), ensuring youth representation in governance. 9. Agribusiness and Housing: Through ADIPA, the government is working towards the development of 2,500 prefabricated Aqua-housing units, while creating opportunities for young people to participate in agribusiness and related economic activities. 10. Sports Development: The construction and upgrading of the Jimeta Ultra-Modern Stadium and Sports Complex, alongside mini-stadiums and sports facility upgrades in Madagali, Numan and Ganye, demonstrate a commitment to youth development through sports. The government has also supported athletes, including para-athletes. 11. NYSC Infrastructure: The construction of a new, permanent and modern NYSC Orientation Camp will strengthen youth development, skills acquisition and national integration in the state. 12. Adamawa State Youth Policy: The Adamawa State Youth Policy 2025 provides a comprehensive framework for youth development and is designed to align with international frameworks, including the United Nations youth-development and SDG agenda. 13. Youth Inclusion in Development Programmes: Young people are beneficiaries of broader government interventions in social protection, cash transfers, job creation, infrastructure, education, healthcare and other sectors. As Senator, Fintiri will be the voice, representative and ambassador of Adamawa’s youth; advocating for their interests, opportunities and future.
