Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has called on local and foreign investors to explore the state’s investment opportunities in solid minerals, agriculture, renewable energy and information technology. Lawal made the call while speaking at the Nigeria-Canada Summit on Digital Rails and Inclusive Growth (NCRS’26), where he was among dignitaries who addressed participants at the high-level gathering. The governor said Zamfara was endowed with vast economic opportunities capable of driving industrial development, creating jobs and improving the livelihoods of residents if adequately harnessed through strategic investments and partnerships. He identified the solid minerals sector as one of the areas with significant investment potential, saying improved exploration, processing and responsible exploitation of mineral resources could provide a foundation for industrialisation and employment generation. Lawal also highlighted agriculture and agro-processing, noting that the state had vast arable land suitable for commercial farming and development of agricultural value chains. He said increased investment in agro-processing would help unlock the value of the state’s agricultural resources while creating opportunities for farmers, entrepreneurs and young people. The governor further identified renewable energy, particularly solar power, as another area with considerable potential. According to him, investment in renewable energy would expand access to electricity and provide reliable power for industries, businesses and communities. He also described information technology as a key driver of economic growth and job creation, particularly for young people participating in the emerging digital economy. Lawal urged businesses and investors within and outside Nigeria to consider Zamfara as an investment destination, assuring them of opportunities across the various sectors. He said stronger international partnerships could help the state attract capital and technology, create jobs and accelerate sustainable socio-economic development. The summit brought together stakeholders interested in leveraging digital infrastructure, investment and innovation to promote inclusive economic growth.
