Nigeria is the outlier in African live viewing, and it's an instructive one. Across four of the five countries GeoPoll examined, pay TV through DSTV and SuperSport leads live match viewing, reaching 66% penetration in Mozambique, 58% in South Africa and 53% in Ghana. Nigeria breaks rank, with free-to-air television leading at 64%, which the researchers link to lower pay TV uptake and the wider reach of terrestrial broadcast infrastructure.
