NDLEA dislodges 16 drug joints, arrests 80 in Kano

From Abbas Tijjani Madabo, Kano The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano State Command, has arrested 80 suspects and dislodged 16 drug joints across the state. This happened within the first seven days of its “Operation Restore Order”. The operation, launched on August 10, was carried out under a dislodge-and-occupy strategy aimed at disrupting drug trafficking and abuse in communities across the state. According to the command, NDLEA operatives between August 10 and 16 raided locations including Filin Mahaha, Koki, Dorayi, Rijiyar Lemo, Charanchi, Kasuwar Kurmi, Zage, Gwammaja, Sauna, Wambai, Yan Ayaba, Indabawa, Bela Village, Farm Centre, Masaka and Panshekara. The agency said various illicit substances and drug-related paraphernalia were recovered during the operations, including cannabis, Diazepam, Exol-5, rubber solution and other narcotics, as well as locally made weapons and materials allegedly used in drug activities. He warned those involved in illicit drug activities to desist, stressing that the agency would continue its efforts to rid the state of drug-related criminality. The command said the arrested suspects would be prosecuted in accordance with the law, while investigations were ongoing to identify and dismantle wider trafficking networks. It also urged residents to support the campaign by providing credible information to security agencies.
