Three people, including a pregnant woman and a nursing mother, have been killed in Gambiri village, Bauchi Local Government Area of Bauchi State. A resident, Abubakar Hussain, told Daily Trust that they were killed when lightning struck the room where the victims were staying around 5:29pm, on Monday. According to him, the victims were buried around 11am on Tuesday. Hussain identified the victims as Hauwa Juli, who delivered her baby seven days ago, and her daughter, Fatima. He said Habiba, the pregnant woman, was a sibling of Hauwa Juli. Hussain said the newborn baby survived the incident, adding, “One miraculous thing that happened is how Almighty Allah has protected the newborn baby of Hauwa Juli from the calamity.” He added that the incident caused deep shock and grief among residents, disrupting economic and social activities as the community mourned the victims. When contacted, the Bauchi State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, confirmed the incident, saying, “Yes, it is true that a thunderstorm has killed three people in Gambiri village.”
