Uganda's Minister for Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, Hon. Frank Tumwebaze, announced that a new factory for locally manufacturing foot and mouth disease (FMD) vaccines will reduce costs for farmers. The factory, a partnership between Uganda and Egypt, is expected to lower vaccine prices significantly. Currently, cows are vaccinated at Shs8,000 and goats at Shs4,000. The minister made the announcement in response to concerns raised during a plenary sitting on 20 August 2026.
