The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) has launched a four-day stakeholder consultation in Lilongwe, Malawi, to shape the region's approach to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Digital Inclusion. The meeting, held under the patronage of Malawi's Minister of Information and Communications Technology, Dr. Shadric Namalomba, aims to gather inputs from public and private sectors, academia, development partners, and civil society. The goal is to develop regional AI and digital inclusion strategies, an action plan, and model policies and regulatory frameworks. The consultations are part of the IDEA Programme, supported by the World Bank and the Digital Malawi Acceleration Project.
