The Kaduna State Government has dismissed reports alleging that the Kangimi Dam in Igabi Local Government Area is on the verge of collapse, describing the claim as misleading and capable of causing unnecessary panic. In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Public Works and Infrastructure, Alhaji Ashiru Abdu Na Abdu, the government said there was no evidence of active structural failure at the dam. It explained that images circulating on social media were related to structural concerns observed in 2015/2016, which were subsequently addressed through emergency remedial works. The dam has been under routine monitoring and minimal maintenance over the years.
