Walmart announced it will add tap-to-pay options to its checkout stations at US stores and Sam's Club warehouses starting August 24, with fuel stations to be upgraded by mid-2027. This will allow customers to use contactless cards, phones, and smartwatches, including Apple Pay and Google Pay. Walmart had previously relied on its proprietary Walmart Pay system.
