The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has explained that its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, did not attend the signing of the National Peace Accord as a protest against the process's failure to effectively respond to electoral violence. The party's National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said similar agreements had been signed in previous election cycles without sufficient action when political violence occurred. He argued that the National Peace Committee should do more than bring candidates together to sign agreements.
