EFCC chair, Olukoyede orders withdrawal of charges against Shehu, Abdulhamad

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has ordered the withdrawal of charges against Maryam Shehu and Abubakar Abdulhamad, who were arraigned before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of a Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday. The charges were related to alleged cybercrime and spreading malicious information against the Commission. The Chairman considered the passionate pleas and apologies from Shehu's father and appeals from well-meaning Nigerians for leniency. He warned that the EFCC would no longer tolerate any deliberate attacks on its image through any medium.
