The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has directed commercial banks to expand credit creation following the N4.65 trillion raised in the recent recapitalisation exercise. The apex bank instructed lenders to channel funds into productive sectors to create jobs, improve productivity, and boost foreign exchange earnings. Analysts, including MPC member Prof. Murtala Sabo Sagagi, believe stronger bank capital should lead to lower lending rates and more affordable loans for households and businesses.
