The three major socio-cultural organisations in Benue State have opposed the Federal Government's proposed pilot ranching scheme in the state. They insist that the safe return and resettlement of displaced persons must precede any land allocation for ranches. The leaders, from Mzough U Tiv, Ochetoha k'Idoma, and Omi Ny'Igede, stated they are not opposed to modern ranching but the policy must not be imposed on communities or at the expense of displaced farmers and food production.
