The Department of Justice announced on Friday that TikTok and its parent company ByteDance have agreed to pay $400 million to settle a lawsuit concerning alleged violations of federal children's privacy laws. The DOJ had filed the complaint in 2024, accusing TikTok of improperly collecting and using data from children. The settlement resolves the legal dispute without admission of liability. The agreement is subject to court approval.
