MLS fines Messi for striking opponent

Major League Soccer fined Inter Miami's Lionel Messi an undisclosed amount for slapping Philadelphia's Quinn Sullivan on the back of the neck during a 2-2 draw on Wednesday. The league's disciplinary committee said the fine was for violating the policy regarding hands to the face, head, or neck of an opponent. Miami's Ian Fray was also fined for the same infraction. The incident occurred in stoppage time when Messi confronted Sullivan.
