The United Nations has warned that the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is spreading exponentially, with deaths reaching 2,516. The UN Senior Ebola Coordinator, Julien Harneis, stated that response funding could run out within weeks, urging immediate international support. Since the outbreak was declared on May 15, 5,290 people have been infected, with a fatality rate of 47.6 percent. Dozens of frontline healthcare workers are among the dead.
