A U.S. District Court in Manhattan has struck down a policy by the Trump administration that suspended immigrant visa processing for applicants from 75 countries, including Nigeria. Judge Jeannette Vargas ruled that the directive, issued by the State Department, was 'patently unlawful' and exceeded the authority of Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The policy had taken effect on January 21, barring visas on grounds of potential public charge.
