The International Republican Institute (IRI) has called on Nigerian electoral and security authorities to investigate and prosecute vote buying and voter inducement ahead of the 2027 general elections. The institute also urged political parties to hold their officials and supporters accountable for electoral offences. IRI Regional Director for Africa, Jenai Cox, made these recommendations at a press conference in Abuja, presenting findings from a pre-election assessment mission. Cox emphasized that political parties should establish clear expectations against vote buying at all levels.
