Amnesty International has raised concerns over alleged human rights violations, unlawful killings, and enforced disappearances in Nigeria's South-East region. The organization urged security agencies to either charge detained individuals in court or release them, stating that prolonged detention without trial violates fundamental human rights. The demand was made during a report presentation and campaign launch in Umuahia, Abia State, titled 'A Decade of Impunity: Attacks and Unlawful Killings.' Amnesty noted that reports of missing persons have persisted in the region since 2021, with many families still unaware of their loved ones' whereabouts.
